I was watching a David Attenborough DVD last night (deserts-planet earth) and got quite a nice show of colours and jumping from a huge group f flat lizards in Africa-truly beautiful!!! Do people keep these in captivity, and if not, has anyone seen them in the wild?

They are native to South Africa, which generally means they cannot be exported from the country, I am not sure, but I believe only F1 animals are allowed to leave the country.
Although, about a week ago, an Ad came up on Kingsnake.com US classifieds with a species in that genus, not the red, yellow, and blue ones, but another brightly colored species. I am sure there are some in the hobby, i do not know if they come from other countries as well.

Planet Earth just finished airing in the US, and I just bought a copy! what an incredible series!

I don't know about regulations on exporting from SA but Platysaurus flat lizards are commonly imported and available. They may come from other southern African countries I guess. I'm not sure which species you're talking about, but P. imperator is stripey and multicoloured, and I've seen this a few times...

Cheers,
Mark.

I keep a group of 8 Platysaurus Imperator, and they are truly stunning, but highly skitty. Although mine are becoming more trusting slowly!
