He looks like ;butter wouldn't melt'.
My daughter brought up a baby blackbird a few years ago when a cat killed it's mother. She looked after it in the nest without telling us.
One day, she was 10yrs old, she just came home with it on her shoulder. It answered to 'Black'.
We thought there must be something wrong with it but there wasn't. It hung around for about 8 weeks before I let her Dad build an aviary in our garage for it. It couldn't come in the house we had 6 cats.
She used to take it out on her shoulder every day and it would come back to her when she called it. I warned her that he could fly away whenever he wanted to. After about 3 yrs, when she wasout with him, he just flew off. He came back a few more times but wouldn't be so 'friendly' with her.
After a while he just didn't come home. We presumed he had 'grown up'. My daughter was devastated. My daughter was 20yrs old on Sunday and still talks about her blackbird. |

WOW, cool birdy! I also rescued a black bird, literaly from the jaws of death! Id taken the dog up the park for his usual jaunt, and I heard this horrendous noise, that could only have come form a cat. Believing it was in great pain, I tied my pooch up to a bench, (hes a Staffi, so anything small and wriggly is fair game!!!), the cat promptly brought her "catch" to me, as if I was her best freind! I then noticed whatever it was, was very small and pink, so wrote off it`s chances, but low and behold, it was alive and kicking!
Took the tiny thing home straight away, gave it Dioralite fluids, anti-biotics form vets, and kept it warm and fed well, and within days, it had grown some feathers, enough to ID it as a black bird!
She survived, and we named her "Tick Tick", after her call.
I was able to release her back to the wild, she has visited many times since, especialy if there are mealworms on offer!
This year we had a visit from her offspring too! Aaaaaagh, bless! _________________ 1.1.7 Bearded Dragons
