(crossposted from another forum so apologies if you've read it before!)
I wondered if I'd be able to get some more info on long tailed lizards. I did previously 'part own' one with an ex flatmate (her viv, I ended up feeding them, cleaning them out, etc. then she let them escape but to be honest she just went and got them on a spur of the moment thing and didn't research them at all.
I've read the basic caresheets (pretty much all the ones Google finds) and I'm pretty sure from what I've read and experienced that they're the lizard for me. I'd just like to know a lot more about their care - housing, feeding, etc.
I can get hold of crickets and other live feed for them fine, and I'm going to check whether my vet has someone reptile-y before making a final decision, but I'd like to work out what I need to buy and also where's a good place to get the supplies and the lizards themselves from. I'm in Surrey but don't drive so it needs to be somewhere I can order online or get to by public transport if it's not too local to me.
Wouldn't mind a run down of heating etc. either - all the different products confuse me a bit!
I'd also like to know whether/where I could find captive bred long tailed lizards as opposed to WC. |

What kind of long tailed liazards are you after, because theres a store near me (to far for you to get to, its in essex) thats selling captive bred asian long tailed lizards!
There must be others around the country thats breeding long tailed lizards. The internet is a great tool there must be some sites about them and possibly dealers.
But I know this, if its breedable then some one on these forums can get you them or will have a contact you can try.
As for equipment, the minimum you will need (as for all captive lizards) are a tank, thermostate, uv lighting (possibly), basking lamp, substrate, food and water bowls, and a hide for the lizards.
I'm afraid beyound this i can't help you as i don't keep these animals. For the actual temps you will have to keep them at you will need to find this out for yourself! But hopefully this gives you an idea. the best of luck in finding your perfect herp! _________________ Beardies are the way!
