We decided to move our tegus from their current location to a location in bali which is at a higher elevation and also gets a bit warmer.

Currently they reside in West Bali in an area called jembrana,

I recently found a new house which is not far from Ubud in West bali which suits both our needs of higher elevation and extra heat(and a cool house for me+family). It also has a decent size piece of land in which we can build some animal enclosures, its also very close to our other reptile breeding facility so makes it all very easy to supervise.

I wasn't really sure of where to post this...as it is tegu related and enclosure related!

This will be an ongoing storey of the building of the new tegu enclosures + their eventual move and the up and coming breeding season, hopefully the move will make them super productive this year.

so this was day 0...lots of banana, papaya, coconut, casava and many more plants/trees in the garden area.

At the end of Day 1 the trenches were dug !

We are starting with 3 pens for the adult breeder tegus, size roughy 22.5m x 6m, the foundation of the walls are going down 50cm as thats how far the tegus seem to dig down at most,

Day 6, I have been really impressed with the work so far, they have followed the plans really well.

Although I will only end up with a 7 day guarentee on the work....LOL

Day 7: They started plastering the walls here today, plaster as in the Uk doesnt exist here, they just sieve the sand and use a slightly different mixture. It will take them 2-3 applications to get a smooth finish (to stop climbing)

Day 8: 9: 10 mostly the same really lots of plastering....

They started to dig and make the pods for the tegus, these will drain into a small stream outside.

The division of work here is very different to the UK, when we get a delivery of bricks/sand/cement, the men jsut continue working and a flock of ladies appears with buckes on their heads to bring the delivery inside !!!

All very different to the UK,

Day 11: TODAY !!!

Blimey lots of posting, Today all the workers have religious ceremonies so no work,

I had a wander round on top of the walls to see where the sun settles, this way I can plan to remove/trim a few of the trees to give shaded and heated areas (no expensive electrical heating needed here...lol

The walls are very strong, the standard of building is very good.
