My was told about a new type of UVB bulb as well as a heat lamp called Realsun.
Does anyone know anything about it and or does anyone use it? _________________ Dante (rankins dragon)

there is a few about, these, power sun etc, they are a spot bulb, that also produces UVA/B
there are a few issues. firstly, if use in conjunction with a dimmer stat, (as all bulbs should be) then when they are not on full power, the UV output will be reduced.
also, if the animal is not a great fan of basking, as some are, they will not get enough UV, to maintain a healthy life.
HOWEVER, i think that they would be very good when used in conjunction with a flexarium, or similar because they will be left on full power, and it reduces the need for a second bulb.
interesting really, as i had this conversation with heather the other day, just before i spied on your ants, and (the one and only)spider:P |

Oh forgot to add, most of these types of bulbs can't be used on any sort of stat, so they must be on all the time during the day, which is no problem as you will already heat source anyway on a stat, this vbulb will just make that work less during the day.
They tend to be sell ballasted and so will kill them pretty soon on a stat, Like UV fluorescent. If you are worried though you could put them on an on/off stat but set really high so basically it would never kick in unless the viv really started to overheat.
