Have any of you looked at the FOCUS web site.
If i am reading things correctly,to sell animals via the internet after April will require a pet shop license.
Any thoughts. |

I'm guessing this is the quote that you are referring to Taben?
"Businesses that use internet sites for the selling of animals will be licensed in the same manner as pet shops "
In which case I think only the handful of reptile breeders that run as businesses will have to hold pet shop licenses.
But overall the AWB is TOO vague and leaves pet keepers open to attack and prosecutions even when NOT committing any cruelty or neglect. _________________

Although the Animal Welfare Act will come into effect in April, little will change immediately in respect of the Pet animals Act. This will remain in effect until the new Pet Vending legislation is drafted, which is likely to impact on Internet Sales. I did sometime ago post a bit on a new Code of Practice for Internet Sales that I hoped would elevate some of the issues of regulating/licensing internet sales, sadly it attracted little impute from Keepers. However, the UK government are taking a cut down version of it to the CoP 14 (CITES convention) this year. |
