Just thought we should point out a news report that was on BBC news a few minutes ago.

Teso the supermarket giant have just opened their first store in Beijing, China. Included on the shelves as well as UK products like Mint Sauce and Sage & Onion Stuffing, TESCO are selling live Turtles for food.

Bearing in mind the world decline in turtle numbers, do you think this is a good move by the Super Market Giant.

IS it worth letting Tesco know our disgust at this Unnecessary & potentially very harmful trade.

The story can be seen,
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6300993.stm

There is no mention of the turtles on here but was mentioned on BBC news 24, and will no doubt filter through later.

WHAT are peoples comments on this?

MAke your comments known to tesco

We did have this discussion on another forum but it appeared to get twisted into a Racial debate rather than the ethics of a Western owned business investing in cruel Eastern ways.

My own view is NO, Tesco should have NO part in this trade. They have made their BILLIONS on the back of their 'Natures Choice', 'RSPCA Farm Assured' and other protocals / policies that they advertise as being 'friendly & care about the environment', as such I feel it's wrong of them to take that CLEAN UK earnt money and invest in something they know would horrify a large % of their UK customers.

Absolutely spot on Scott. Tesco would appear to to not be averse to the use of double standards and deception in it`s campaign to gain yet more power World wide.

I Did yes,

I was wondering why tesco would want to advertise, on a reptile site.

Should take more notice of what the banner says.

Us newbies, that don't know anything, oh well.
