like are they a good choice?
are they easily handled?
do they bite?
also any tips on keeping them.
what size viv is best?
also i've read its best to keep them on their own is that true or can you keep a pair together?

Hi
I think that blue tongues are a good choice, but I'm biased
It is definately easier to keep them individually, ideally in a viv that is 4' x 2' x 18" high or similar. I use medium beech chips as a substrate.
I've never been bitten by a blue tongue, even when seperating fighting animals etc. Most will get used to handling, and some seem to like it.
They are very easy to feed too. I use small mice, rat pups, dubia roaches and mixed fruit/veg salad as staples, with scrambled eggs or garden snails as treats.
Cheers,
Mark. |

[like are they a good choice?].....YES easy to feed and tame and very hardy.
[are they easily handled?].....If a baby they are very esay to tame for handling and if a all ready a tame adult they are also esay to handle.
[do they bite?].....differant bluey's differant personalitys But best go for a baby CB would be best as it will take to you esayer. If you have a adult best once if you can find them are ozzy Nothern and Eastern bluey's due to there long line of captive breeding you will very very rarey find a tempermental one.Irian jaya's and indo-(gigas) and meruke come in both CB,LTC,WC though some are tamer than others and some WC one can be tame to be surer i'd say go for a CB one.Tanimbar if you get a baby you MAY be OK as i have seen a couple tame once. But if i was you i'd avode a adult tannie it will most likely be wc and very very fiery and will bite before you can say occhh.
[also any tips on keeping them].....Very easy to please viv size as wrote below,uv and basking light, feed mixed food there not fussy but try to keep as natural as possible, other than drinking water some love to bath.get out often if tame, leave alone if not.
[what size viv is best?].....Min' around 3ft x 2ft x hight 15inch for one.
[also i've read its best to keep them on their own is that true or can you keep a pair together?]......Though it's possible to keep male & female or female & female together in a large viv.It depends on the personality of the bluey they may get on they may not.So onless your planning to breed them i'd say keep on there own.
i've already read up on them but would appreciate any info you can give me |
