I bought a male rosy boa from Rodbaston IHS show a week last Sunday.

I've got him on newspaper with two hides at the mo and a small water bowl. Tried feeding him last Wed, but he wasn't bothered. Assumed he was still settling in so left him and tried him again on Sunday with a smaller mouse, still not bothered. The guy I bought him off said he fed him about a fortnight before the IHS show. He kept him on shavings and fed him in the viv He's supposed to be four years old, so he's adult.

What do other rosy owners keep their's on? Not too keen on aspen, but as he's a burrowing species, that is one option.

Also, does any one else experience loss of appetite in male rosys at this time of year? I know I've only had him a 10 days but am a bit worried.

Any advice would be much appreciated Smile

hi, I use woodshavings, aspen and newspaper in the past. I prefer aspen overall.

Rosys can go off food at this time, if it's a good healthy snake and not thin, then don't worry too much. What was the previous owner feeding it? live or defrost?

Yeah he looks healthy and not at all thin.

The owner said he was feeding him defrost mice. He has a very small head so I tried him with a small mouse, next size up from a fluff. He is quite small overall, compared with several rosy's I saw at Doncaster IHS show.

Do you feed out of your vivs if you use aspen?
