The s5600 was finally delivered, so snapped off some test shots...first impressions is that it's an ok wee piece of kit, just need to save for my D70 and s3 pro now.

I like the spider one best, although they all look a little over exposed..can you turn the flash output down on it Ross? _________________

In answer to the first part...the curves have been tweaked in PS to give then a high key (over exposed) look...stole the idea from a venture photography stand I saw today...arty farty and a break from the norm. Just me being a prat.
And nah, sadly not. That's my one major gripe with the camera...the flash is set too high and far back, so it doesn't catch the front of an image. So I'm thinking of buying a seperate handheld flash gun.
A couple of pics that haven't been tweaked.

I subdue the flash for close-ups by putting tissue over the flashgun aperture.
I hold the tissue on with blutack. _________________ John

Cheers guys.
Louise, they're my little brother's after a fashion, the spider is a moulted skin someone gave him and the scorpion is one of those preserved ones.
John, that's a great wee tip. I'll certainly keep that in mind for whenever I'm using flash at close quarters.
Stu, these are the top images in their unedited form (just a tighter crop), they were shot in RAW, without flash. I know the tails are a little blown by the light coming through the windows...but on the camera it looked fine (taking the shot and playing it back)...so what did I bugger up setting wise to get the tail like that?

Don't think you buggered anything up mate..its just depth of field..with a face on shot like that you will struggle to get everything sharp and in focus.. _________________
