I've seen pictures of peoples self builds elsewhere on the net using perspex for the clear bit at the front! Is it worth it? I'm guessing its cheaper, but might not be as strong? I'm making three vivs and glass for all of them could be quite expensive!

cheers

I would say go for glass, I did manage to find someone near me that cut me 2 doors for about £9.00. I thought that was alright.

I've had vivs with perspex, obviously it can be more flexible. and I've had snakes squeeze through the doors, right in the middle bit.

Shop around, I'm sure you'll find glass at a reasonable price somewhere.

If you use too thin perspex Mark you're right Wink I've had a lot of perspex vivs made to spec and they've been my best. Don't retort under the heat if there's adequate ventilation and don't scratch if you're careful. I'd definately recommend them Wink

Remember there is a difference between perspex you'd buy at the likes of B&Q compared to the "Lexan" products they use in America.
