i have a large piece of crooked wooden log that i want to use for my red-tail boa (6.5ft, the boa that is),its natural wood ,def not pine, but its still got bark on it, any ideas if i should remove the bark,if so how, and do i need to sterilse the log (usually i soak in bath with diluted bleach and hot water for a few hours then rinse thoroghly). also i asm looking to get BONNIE a larger viv in the new year, i thought about 6x2x2, or would 5x2x2 be enough, i am looking for something in various classifieds, but its like looking for lord lucan!!!! _________________ we all have the spark of divinity within us, but are we responsible enough to use it? |

Chuck it in a chest freezer for a bit. That`ll kill the nasties. _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

,sorry mark,thanks for your advice on the log, but as i have stated elsewhere on this and other forums, my d.i.y. abilities are somewhat reminiscent of the efforts of an inebriated chimp wearing boxing gloves!!!! _________________ we all have the spark of divinity within us, but are we responsible enough to use it? |

Option on the log;
1)spray it with front line and leave it to dry and then use it.
2)deep freeze in chest freezer
3)boiling water over it while it's in the bath
4)nothing, any native UK bugs will be very unlikely to harm your snake _________________

thanks for the replies everybody, as i aint got a chest freezer, that option is not viable, and of the others, i think i'll go for the boiling water after removing bark and soaking in diluted bleach too for a day. hopefully that should administer the coup de grace to any undisireables in the vicinity,( with the possible exception of door to door salesmen ) _________________ we all have the spark of divinity within us, but are we responsible enough to use it? |
