THAT is the last time I will ever buy curly winged flies, I bought 5 boxes of them and out of this ended up with about 2 dozen flies and millions of dead pupae. I tried every method known and had no joy at all.
Last week I bnought a pint of un dyed maggots- big juicy things that looked more like waxies, I am now the proud owner of bluebottles which my yemens simply adores. I take about 8 or so maggots, let them pupate in a small tub, sprinkle them with calcium so that on hatching the flies are well dusted then just open the tub a fraction inside the viv. Does anybody know where I might be able to buy house-fly maggots as the bluebottles are too big for the pygmies?

Hi Rick, I bought them cheap- of course! from Worms direct. They are not all yucky and smelly or writhing stomach churningly in some foul smelling slurg either!
PS if you cant find the sight I'll PM you. |

Yes...They are called 'squats'
They can be ordered in any decent fishing tackle shop.
Are you rich ??????
You must be, for paying £4-95 for a pint of maggots
Any tackle shop in the country will be able sell you clean plain white maggots for less than 1/2 that price !!! _________________ People laugh at me because I am different

No Serpent I am certainly not rich- for the simple reason I am a non driver who lives in the back of beyond that has no rep shops or fishing bait shops- so all my cash goes on animal foods!!! I live in the Lake District- the district full of lakes, however for some very strange reason its all sea fishing around here, we dont need bait shops as the locals go to the beach to dig for lug and rag worms, no demand for maggots. So i rely on the internet for just about everything you see.
