If those were your shutter speeds then no they aren't too high if your using the 300mm end of the zoom.Are you shooting in auto mode? There are so many other aspects that could be to blame i.e. iso?..aperture?..etc.. _________________

There not to high taking the crop into account your 300 mm lens is actually 480mm thus the shutter speed should be a min of 500/s to avoid shake and to freeze action you will want it faster than that like double it
the 100-300 is a bit soft @300 but nowhere near that soft whack the 300d into TV mode and set the SS to 500 and see what you get you may need to up the iso to 400 depending on how good the light is on the day _________________ I’m Just So Misunderstood

you can get away with much lower shutter speeds for static images but will probably need a tripod or monopod if your using 300mm upwards. _________________

Auto focus ? yes i'll keep playing with it till i get the hag of it that's the magic with digital your not buying film rolls so your not throwing money away by wasting roll to learn with. |

Bit lost with this one think i've worked it out there is a full auto on the mode dial yes i had it set on that. |

Could the fact that the pictures where croped abit make be the reason they are sofed and fuzzy ?. |

yes but it depends how much so if they are like 200% then it would explain most of it but if its anything below say 66% then nope its not _________________ I’m Just So Misunderstood
