okay guys...I've been reading quite a bit lately since I'm buying a DSLR later this year (i hope...)
But now...I've decided to go for a 'cheap' body with some (very) good lenses... (probably D60 or D40x)
I defenitly like macro pictures as well as alround herp pictures so I was thinking of getting a Sigma 105mm OR a Tamron 90 mm. Both are great lenses (so I've read) but the Sigma tends to hunt. Is this a major problem?
Which of the two do you prefer? And why?

And one more thing...The Tamron 70-300mm. I've heard this is a good lense as well. How is it for macro shots? Or semi-macro shots?

thanks...

Have owned both macro lenses you mention and prefer the images from the Tamron tbh...I did find the sigma to hunt more but in all honsety I use manual focus if I am doing real close up work...
The zoom lenses with the word macro in the title are not great for close ups..they are not true macro and just focus a little closer than normal..You would be happy with any of the true macros wether its sigma nikon tamron etc..they are all fixed focal lengths(primes) so therefore offer exceptionall quality...

Now then... Stop calling the D60 a 'cheap one'
It's the best I can afford to get started with.

I am hoping it will get me started and help me find this photo thing addictive.

Lol...sorry then. Its the best I can afford at the moment as well. It should be a great camera and with the right lenses it should be great fun!

@stu; Thanks. I guess the 70-300 would be more of a 'allround' lense for, lets say, the zoo or something?
