Im currently building a 4 ft x 2ft x 2ft vivarium, which style heating do you prefer?

Whenever iv built them in the past iv always used arcadia ceramic lamp holder and bracket -

and had this running through dimmers.

Iv visited a few reptile shops and seen many of these

which do you use ???

To heat my Ackies i use a 60 watt spot straight to the mains which gives me a good basking temp at the top of my stack, for night time heat i have a ceramic on a thermostat which is set on a timer which comes on soon as the spot is turned off to give a nice low night time temp.

My Ackie viv is (aprox) 95x95x125cm (3X3X4ft) high. There is a big platform build in so they have aprox 1,35m2.
For light i use:
- MegaRay 100w (for uvb heating/basking the platform)
- Philips Par38 80w lamps (basking/heating the ground)
- TrueLight 26w compact lamp (for daylight spectrum)
- 150w IR lamp for in the night (is dimmed @ 30%)

A pic:

I realy like your viv. It is totally different than normal ackie viv. Most people opinion is that Ackies are mainly desert ground-dwellers so they common ackie viv is flat with almost none climbing space. But i think this is not a Good opinion. Ackies seems to like climbing a lot. Mines are most of the time high in my viv.

Thanks, i like that shelf in urs too .. looks good ...
Yeah mine too like to climb, they do gown to look for food and have a wander but do spend most of their time on top of the stack or climbing all over the branches, all the bricks under the stack are staggered too so there are gaps in between them too, ive added a couple of cork tubes with holes cut into them now which just add to the places they can nose around in .. keeps them occupied, specially nosing about for hidden crickets etc ..
