just checked through my egg laying tray which mork had been digging out every night and found two eggs!
both are soft shelled and have red veins when I shine a light through them, which I believe means fertile
are they supposed to be soft shelled?
going to incubate them in the viv in a covered lid and see what happens!
very pleased with them cosidering how bad the lads aim is |

yeah Leo's...glad they are supposed to be soft shelled!
hopefully they will turn out ok, may well invest in an incubator in the future, have a tank all ready just in case they hatch |

unfortunately the first two all shrivelled up and died whilst I was on holiday
anyone know if this is a sign of them drying out or being too wet?
I am going with drying out but I had asked the friend looking after all my animals to ensure they got some water, though it was dry as a bone in the egg tray.
shes looking fit to burst again so I am sure more are imminent, would rather make a better go of it this time. |

Congrats on the eggies It's always a thrill to dig through the diggy box and find a nice fertile pair of eggs I'm rapidly running out of bator space at the rate my lot are going at!! _________________ www.draco2.co.uk

Unlucky with the eggs, sounds like they did dry out, maybe too much ventilation in the egg tub?
Get your vermiculite or perlite, whichever you are using and mix it with water in equal measures by weight, then put that into your egg box but ideally you only want a couple of very small holes in the box any more and it will dry out too quickly. Now she has started laying im sure you will get plenty more so good luck with the rest. _________________ www.Reptilebreeder.co.uk

I meant with the ones that she hasn't laid yet. I've lost my first clutch from each female, I put it down to them being their very first eggs.
Jas's method certainly works for the vermiculite and water ratios, not that I've had any hatch so far, but they are all looking good. I used a large sewing needle to put 2 holes in my bator tubs, and I bought the round cheap 5 pack of microwave tubs for the job, that way I can get about 3 inches of vermiculite into them and the eggs get 1/2 buried in little hollows in the top 2 to each tub. Will get square ones though tomorrow (i've run out of tubs) as they will stack into the bator better than round ones I now have 12 tubs in the bator as of this morning _________________ www.draco2.co.uk
