well as cresties will spend most of their day up in the trees I would suggest a 6x11 mat located at the top corner of the viv.... remember its only there to take a chill off and mats can go wrong so you will certainly need a stat for it.
Also remember that a slight temperature drop could be beneficial to them at this time of year, they need to feel the change in seasons aswell so I wouldnt go overboard with trying to reach a summer time high for them _________________ My website isn't quite there yet, as I got bored half way through writing it.

In Crested gecko care books etc it says mid 70s to low 80s , so if useing a 40watt basking light for e.g. you would want the air temp below the lamp at about the 83f mark, with cooler areas say 70f for e.g. in the rest of the enclosure.
The difficulty is making sure it does ot get to warm, when the central heating goes on or when the general air temps with spring and summer rise.
SO you need to then either use a dimming stat(very expensive) or just switch off the bulbs.
I use an heatpad at the top of the backwall on the outside warming the glass and a 40watt spot which needs to be closely monitored.
My hot spot is about 78f and coolest areas about 64f.
I ahve not got my cresties yet but testing temps etc to amke sure o.k.
hope helps and if any one thinks I am wrong please put me right.
