Well for crimbo, the other half has said I can have a new pet the choices are a CF BTS or LTC jungle runner (will have to find out the exact species). I have always wanted a BTS, but I am a bit worried about their diet, as I have only had insectivorous/carnivorous species before. I have read up all the info on bluetongue.net etc.
BUT I love the jungle runners, they're so active and pwetty. I almost got a pair a while back so I searched info then, but there isn't a great deal, can anyone who has kept these here offer me some advice??
Cheers in advance guys!

I'd go with BTS, very easy to care for. Diet wise its hard to get em eatin their veg but with an established one that feeding great on both it should be ok. If not you'd have to try for a bit to get it feeding on veg before the rest.

Cheers Jezz. I'm goin to pop back in today and find out where the BTS are from. I am a bit worried about the veg as hubby will have to babysit it for a 2 weeks in Jan while I use my vivs at uni for data collection on my gex, and I don't want him to struggle.
May have a wander to stockport pet warehouse too see what they have...
I hate these sorts of choices!! |

I would have thought the BTS rather easy to feed. Their diet is so varied that their is always something in the house.
With regards Veg, I tend to stick with Spring Greens because I always have a supply for my Beardies and Live food.
Then there is boiled eggs, snails, chicken, mince, live food etc etc.
It's nice to not have to worry about a really specialised diet.
Although, I do like Jungle Runners too, but I'd guess they require more space than a BTS.
If you do decide on Jungle Runners, there is a couple for sale near me and I will be in the Warrington area in a week or two.
It may help with giving you a wider choice of where you buy your animal from. _________________ 31August2008-Kent Reptile Show (Amphibians & Inverts welcome) for more information & Booking e:mail: mrac@sky.com |

I gave in to the BTS he/she is looooooovely!!! Probably about 6 inches long, lovely little thing, so far comes to the door of the viv when I go to open it.
I have a mix of eco-earth and orchid bark as substrate as thats what a few people have recommended, is this ok? Has a large water bowl with about an inch of water which has a rock in so he can get in and out easily. A few hides and cork bark and a 10.0 UV.
I do feel guilty about not gettin the jungle runner, it looked so sad When we got there hubby also said I could have a bosc if I wanted....but we are after some kimberlys in the summer so we will need the space for them.
Will get some pics up in a while, leaving him be for a while. Off too bluetongue.net now to find out what subspecies he is
Cheers

Hehehe! I'm goin to take my nephew home (he chose our little BTS) and then I will go to the rep room armed with camera!
I actually can't believe how calm it is, lively, climbin all over the show but not bothered at being touched and stroked
I think due to the OH's love of starwars it will probably be named Jabba |
