Ordered 100 baby locusts, and on recieving them, transferred them to a bigger tank (one of the plastic ones with the colourful lids). I was a bit concerned about escapes, so I taped most of the lid, poking holes in it for ventilation. They were kept about room temperature and fed on carrot dusted with calcium powder, and rocket, and I used oats as a base for them. They started kicking the bucket fairly rapidly, even my little pig of a beardie couldnt get through them all before a lot started dying off. Any tips on keeping them healthier next time?

make sure its not too wet for them either , they dont like moisture

Keep them hot and dry, fed with leafy greens (or grass if they're migratory locusts). Don't feed them dusted veg, unless its their last meal.

old reptile shop i used to work at helped out breeding locust and we did it pretty well. the things i know are if they are not warm they will die. if they eat their wet pooh they will die so the idea is plenty of green and a hot place for their mess to dry otherwise it wil kill them. this is the way we did it not sure if anybody else agree's but i had plenty of free grown locusts Laughing

Short term temperatures are not important (they can withstand 0c overnight) it's Damp/humidity that kills them the quickest.
