I have another friend I've just got into reptiles and he
insists in use wooden type substance for his snakes
instead on newspaper. As I don't use the stuff myself I
have no clue.Does anyone know any mail order company's
that sell bags of aspen or hemp cheaply by mail order,as
it's costing a fortune here in the shops.
Thanks in advance.

Well its true, if you have a look on most online reptile shops, you will find aspen in the substrate section.

(and that took 20 seconds of searching).
