|
A couple of weeks ago, my ocellatus eggs hatched. 5 babies from the two nests each hatched. Only one baby died in the egg and the other egg never developed. I heard that it is really hard to successfully hatch oscellatus eggs, but i got an 83% success rate.... Here are the female parents of the babies, couldn't find the dad, but will take pics of him when he finally submerges from his hide:
And here are more pics of the babies:
I haven't taken any pics of the dad seeing as he is hiding. They sooo lively and eat too much! They're really cool

Aww lovely! I'm actually after one of these at the moment...what sort of diet do you feed them on (everyone I ask seems to have a different opinion on how to feed them!) _________________ 1 male caramel corn snake, Loki

Thanks for the replies. The adults are in a 6ft x 2ft viv with shelves. As for keeping the babies, I can't seeing as I have absolutely no room left. Anyway, it shouldn't be too hard to sell them as I have two unrelated batches.
I feed the babies greens everyday, mainly dandelion, and small crickets 4-5 times a day. I feed the adults a wide variety of greens which I grow over the spring and summer in my garden, otherwise its down Morrison's and buying a heck of a lot of Mediterranean salad. I hardly ever feed them locusts, although I feel that I should, so I feed them locusts 2-3 times a month. Also, I keep a small water bowl in there for them to drink, I know that there is a lot of discussion about this, but I feel that it is necessary. Bird seeds are always available in the adults viv, I think its the cockatiel mix. Hope this helps
Thanks

Congratulations! I bred these a couple of times years ago, until the WC females died. Provided the eggs were good I didn't have too many problems hatching them. Nice species. I hope to have some ornatus eggs next year, love those cute little Uro hatchlings. |

Thanks. I have 2 men (dads) and two females (mums). Except one of the males lost most of its tail due to some sort of fungus infection....so I called him stumpy. But he is fine now. Hopefully I can breed the third female, with one of the two different males I still have, next year.
Thanks
