My pair are about 6 months also, so a long way to go before such things come into play but good to know.
At the moment, there are no dominance issues atall, yet they are still babies so we will see.

Ok, thanks for the answer. I'm trying to find out more about their breeding behavior, but I hear so many different story's...
I'm raising my pair (female 9months, male 6months old) together, but I'm thinking ahead on what to do when the female will be gravid. I still have at least 9 months or so before she will, but I'm hoping to be ready when she is and do the best thing for her.
These are my first iguana's, so I have still a lot to learn... But I like that. Very Happy

Good luck with them Tom. Yes I agree, the learning curve is challenging and fun.

My juvenile pair are still quite young, the male is dominant and bold, all good signs for future breeding. But he does not harass the female, not yet anyway. He will allways come to the front of the viv when I approach and the female will remain, or move to the back. He places himself between me and the female, whether or not this is intentional I dont know.

They will both hand feed now, but are cautious, the male hand feed before the female but now she will take food from my hand, if the male doesn't swipe it first. Laughing

Excellent result Rick Wink they are amazing looking creatures, it's a shame they are so endangered

Good luck with the hatchling!

Thats cool,
Trese and I have given them quite a bit of settling time and have only recently started with the stroking etc, I took Paul's advise and left them be with minimal interaction for a few weeks, i think we have had them about 6-7 weeks now.
they tend to both stick together in the morings, then seperate int he afternoon...switch places a lot, and generally, although i expect [and as you say is good] the male to become protective of the female, at the moment he isnt showing that, they both just sit and watch and grin cheekily lol.

have a very interesting time ahead of us im certain.
