|
|
I collected some crested geckos this weekend, by the time I got back to the hotel it was dark and very cold (2 or 3 degrees c!). I unloaded the car and took the reptiles up to the room. Unfortunately the following morning when I went down to warm the car up before loading up the reptiles, I found 2 crested geckos that had dropped out the poly box and got left behind in the boot of the car.
I picked up the tub and both geckos were completely limp and lifeless, I held one in each hand (cupped) and literally in less than a minute both were moving their tails and slowly waking up. Within 10 minutes they were both fine, although a litle shakey on their feet.
They have both now made a full recovery and are feeding and acting fine. The temp when I found these lizards was 3.5c but there was also ice on all the cars etc, I would guess that the temp would of dropped to nearer 0c, they were in the car for 9 hours. _________________

Took the words right out of my mouth. Crikey that's amazing. They are fascinating creatures - it's remarkable what they can withstand. _________________ Best wishes, Jackie

Very remarkeble and also interesting!
Glad to hear that they seem to do okay.
I do now that they keep active even with low temperatures in the winter, but near freezing point is new.... |

thats quite amazing, when i read the title I thought it was going to be regarding a 3.5c change in conditions with relation to colour or mating activity!
