Hi
I have two snake neck turtles and bought 3 mollies about a month ago with the intent to breed them so I would have a constant supply of feeder fish. For some reason they haven't bred yet so I decided to get 6 guppies as they're meant to be the easiest fish to breed. I put the guppies in my tank yesterday along with my mollies and I was surprised to find this morning two tiny guppies hiding down at the bottom of the tank. I tried to catch them to put them in a fish breeding unit that I have but they are very difficult to catch so I gave up. What I want to know is are they likely to get eaten by the other fish in the tank before they have a chance to grow? They have places to hide down the bottom of the tank and I watched them for a bit and they have good instincts to stay away from the other fish. The surface is quite a long and dangerous trip for them so I'm assuming they're just going to scavenge food that falls to the bottom of the tank. I crush some of the flake food very finely when I add it to the tank so that it will fall to the bottom and hopefully the babies will find it. |

That one is called Kodo. My other is called Murtle. I've read turtle necks are usually shy but these ones are quite the opposite. They always come to the front of the tank when someone is in the room. This is no doubt because they want feeding. They definately like their food. It's amazing the size of the food that they can cram down their necks .
I'm going to buy them a paddling pool so I can put them outside during the summer. I wish I could leave them outside in it all year round so they would have more room but I fear the cold temps during winter might kill them. |

if you plan on keeping them outside at all make sure they are covered well as birds will love to eat them. _________________ cardboard city. |
