I doubt whether he'll fill out all that much until he gets a good bit bigger; over 3 feet or so.
22 inches at 7 months is probably about right, although they can get to 4 feet + in a year if fed enough.
For me, 22" is too small for sexing tegus, again wait until it is 3 foot plus.
Cheers,
Mark. |

That's what healthy animals do. They grow, develop and reproduce provided they have the support(food, heat ect..) to do so. An unhealthy animal would not do any of that. |

They can grow really fast especially when they get access to lots of natural sunlight.
We sex our babies here from the time they hatch, but then we have lots to compare so its quite easy.
Its 100% reliable also so far. I will try to get some photos of how we do it over the next week or so if I get some spare time, you can visually see the difference and also probe them.
What are you feeding your tegu?
cheers

A simple method to get them to eat fruit is to defrost your rodents etc in water (dry them before feeding and feed out of a bowl or on paper to ensure nothing sticks to them) and then use the water to scent the fruit. it may work, may not, but has worked for me. Dan |
