Hi all

First of all many apologies if this question has already been covered by another thread, I had a quick glance down the thread subjects and didn't see anything but may have missed it, sorry if that is the case.

I'm basically after two things and would love to know where people source them from cheaply...

1. Arcadia (or similar) fluorescent tube reflectors - especially for 36/48" tubes.

2. Simple lamp reflectors for a pendant-style basking lamp - I have one great one that I bought cheaply years ago from a DIY store but after trawling around all the DIY stores in existence today it appears that such a thing no longer exists there. I just want a simple heat-resistant reflector for a 100W bulb but will begrudge having to pay £12 for this from my local pet store, the cheapest I've found so far.

Any ideas for cheap and reliable sources for both things? And while I'm at it, what about quality plastic/silk plants for really good prices??

Any help gratefully received..... Very Happy

Jonathan

I use plastic black guttering, cut down to the size I need, I then stick shiny aluminum tape inside the gutter to make it reflective. That then just sits over the top of my tubes (on top of mesh cages). Inside vivs I don't use any as the tubes are basically on the floor of the vivs but theres no reason I can think of to stop you screwing the gutter to the ceiling of the viv and then attaching the lamp clips inside the gutter reflector.

I can make a tube reflector 3m long for less than £20 Wink ...cheap enough???

squeak squeak wheres that mouse.

I have found Cornish Crispa to be the cheapest online supplier, but must admit Scotts idea is spot on!

You could make a lamp reflector dome out of chicken mesh wire and carefully craft it to shape and then line with tin foil? I made a hat like this once Laughing Ricks famous tin foil hat!

Well what can I say other than puritan! Wink

You should however try the tin foil hat, it is also really useful as a lamp reflector! Protects you from harmful alien rays, keeps the voices at bay and also is quite a trendy fashion item!
