Anyone see Venom ER last night, looks like they had the first person to die from a bite last night (unless anyone knows of others?).
Poor guy was bitten by a Southern Pacific, C. helleri, while walking outdoors. He arrived concious at the hospital (his wife was a nurse there). He had over 40 vials of anti-venom (average is 12!). His kidneys shut down and during the night he had several strokes and was on life support, 3 days later the family agreed to switch off the machine.
Quite sad to see the guy sitting in bed looking at his swollen foot and to know he won't survive the next 48 hours....certainly hit home with me and venomous...I used to have C.helleri. _________________
