Hallo Baloo,

I keep my pair (1,1 cb'02, app. 1.5 m in a large enclosure (1.50x1.30x0.70m):

Temp. 22-25/day & 19-22/night; humidity: app. 50%.
The enclosure is equipped with large branches and a big plastic box which serves as a pool. They just love to swim and dive! I'd not be surprised, if they hunt fish. They are very active and use every inch of the enclosure.
They are not very effective hunters. Sometimes it's just funny to see them eat. Clumsy creatures they are Smile . I feed them with mid-sized mice, normally 2 in 2 weeks.
They also like quail eggs:

Now the bad news: they're digesting very quickly and the consistency of their feces is very pulpy. And yes, when they release it, they lose a lot of weight Rolling Eyes Laughing . So it is highly recommended to remove it as soon as possible.
A hibernation period of minimum 4 month (Nov.-Feb.) is absolutely necessary (temp. 12-3 degrees):

Hope that helps

Jürgen
