About 30 minutes ago we were all watching a muntjac deer on our lawn (here where I work). We thought it strange that it was out in the open and didn't move as our lorries drove past (even though it was standing straight up). Anyway, we then saw a lorry driver get out and walk straight up to it. This obviously meant something was wrong.
I went out and walked straight up to it and could see that dogs had attacked it, all it's face was bitten and had bite marks round it's legs and body. Needless to say we decided to try and get a vet to 'fix it up', so far we have been told by one that it will be shot (same response as RSPCA would offer).
We have now found an equine vet who is willing to come down (for a fee ). Anyway, I have penned the deer in at the moment, in long grass. Hopefully the stress won't kill. _________________

yep, vet just left. Looking at it closer it doesn't look like bites but more like an injury from barbed wire, possibly got caught up in it and now in shock.
The vet gave it anti-imflamatries & antibiotics and said leave it in the pen I made overnight, then let it free tomorrow.
My good deed done for the day.....I best cancel the butcher who was coming round to carve it up _________________

wouldn't it be better to let it go when you leave work?..just thinking if a fox or something tried to have a go at it would stress it even more.. _________________

just checked him out, looked quite awake and raring to go, so I let him out, was in no rush to run off, even came back and sniffed my hand, then slowly walked off
some photos for you _________________

Nice one Scott, we used to get Muntjac in our garden and used to see them all the time driving home from work in the mornings _________________ Regards James Stroud |
