It does look like a southern bar neck, but occasionally you do get a scrub from the northern islands of aru which look similar.

My bet is it is a merauke/southern bar neck(although yours doesnt have very prominent neck bars)

Very nice looking animal.

Do you know if he is a cb?

Try to get hold of a copy the below paper, some parts missing and the genetics work a bit unrefined but a very interesting read with some nice descriptions of most scrub pythons.

SYSTEMATICS OF PYTHONS OF THE MORELIA AMETHISTINA COMPLEX (SERPENTES: BOIDAE) WITH THE DESCRIPTION OF THREE NEW SPECIES

Michael B. Harvey1, David G. Barker2, Loren K. Ammerman1, and Paul T. Chippindale1

Cheers Jon! I will try to get hold of a copy of that paper. You dont knwo the best place for me to get a copy from do you?

He is a CB05 animal but i dont have any info on the breeder. I picked up 3 more scrubs today, a CB06 pair very similar to the male pictured above (The female is a hypo melanistic though) and a CB07 female Bar Neck who looks very differant. I will try and get some pics posted of the others tomorrow for comparison.

Your southern bar necks don't seem to have much pattern on the tail, quite interesting.

The nothern bar neck looks like she will have a nice pattern.

Good luck, I hope you become a scrub-a-holic, there are lots of localities to get !!
