Hi again, its been a while since I last wrote about my little girl and her bad eyes, last time I had taken her to the vet to get some eye drops as she had a big lump around both eyes, well they cleared up but she never got rid of the excess skin from the lumps but she could see and was healthy. Now, I have an even bigger problem, my poor baby girl's right eye has ballooned up, again another visit to the vet, and yet again more eye drops, but nothing, I bathe her eye 2 to 3 times a day religiously, her Viv is spotless, she is drinking, eating and seems her normal aggressive self, but this swelling is awful, bless her, I can't say for sure if she has any pain, I really do not think she has, as none of her ways have changed at all, I just don't know what to do about her eye, it did start to reduce in size but now its fully swollen again, as this ever happened to anyone else, do you know what I can do, as the vet seems not to know??? Any help would be much appreciated. I will add, she has had an eye problem since I got her, and she is almost 10 months old now. thank you ... Lesley |

Not too sure what to suggest, but has your vet done any x-ray around her eye, so to know if there's any growth behind the eye ball?
If my chams have eye problems, I use "eye and skin ointment" by Beaphar to sooth them (not very bad eye problems) but I doubt that would help yours. |

Hi sorry to here about your little girl. Do you use a compact UV as I have read that they can cause serious retinal damage to their eyes. If so I would change to a standard 5% fluorescent tube but perhaps give her a rest from any UV for a couple of days. Hope this helps

Duckie is going to the Vets on Friday, hopefully this vet will give me some answers and make my little girl all better, I know her eyes will never be as beautiful as they should, but I just wish for the swelling to go, as it can't be nice for her. Her habits have changed a little now, she isn't drinking from her dripper as she used to daily, so I syringe water directly into her mouth (as she has attitude so mouth is open WIDE) trying to bite lol will update outcome.. |

Hi been reading this with some interest and would just like to ask ?
When you are bathing its eyes/spraying , is it normal tap water you use to do this with , it may just be as simple as that causing the problem.
Just something ells to ask when visiting the Vets .Hope you get it sorted .

Is your UVB light a compact or a linear/tube light????
Be careful when syringe feeding her water that she doesn't aspirate it. |

Took Duckie to the vets earlier today, she has a very bad abscess unlike humans ours are fluid and can be treated via simple eye drops where as with reptiles it is a solid lump that has to be removed via an operation. She is going into hospital(vets) on Tuesday, operation will be done Wednesday morning, hopefully all being well I can pick her up Wednesday evening, then she has to have 3 antibiotic injections every 3 days, the vet said that this will be successful and her eye will be fine. One other thing is I am to change the substrate for reptile matting, due to Duckie having eye problems (since birth) best not to have anything that may be able to get into her eye. Fingers crossed on a successful operation, bless her.. photos to follow after op than you everyone that has assisted me with her |
