A pair of "Russian" sand lizards Lacerta agilis exigua. The male is the green one. The pic was taken in one of my outdoor enclosures.

And another pair. This time Lacerta agilis chersonensis. I breed plenty of these every year (both subspecies). Unlike quite a lot of lizards kept outdoors these remain tame and will even feed from your fingers.

Outdoor reptillaries are a great way to keep certain species as close to nature as possible and achieve good breeding results. Do you have any images of the enclosures Mark? Tell us about the set ups if you can.

I will post some pics soon of the enclosures.

I deliberately held back most of last years young, of most of the lizards I bred, to increase the breeding stock. For example I held back 40 Australian water dragons. But later this year I should have plenty spare. Last years sand lizards were kept outdoors all the time i.e overwintered outdoors, yet are breeding now at less than a year old.

Now where were you a couple of years ago Mark when I was tying to get hold of these ?!?!?!?!
You would be amazed at what you can keep in outdoor vivaria. I used to post on a forum dedicated to housing collections in this manner http://outdoorvivaria.proboards18.com/index.cgi and had a section of my garden set aside for this. I'll have to see if I can find the photos.
