I got up this morning, put the lights on in the viv and about an hour later Barney (ackie) emerged from his hiding place and sat under his basking spot.

I came back in the room about 20 mins later to notice that his tail was twitching and swishing around. When I touched him his tail would twitch, but it didnt seem to do it the way they do when they are being defensive. He then moved but his movements were very jerky, which has worried me a lot. Crying or Very sad

Hes now sat on his log, hes alert but he doesn't seem to want to move anywhere right now.

Has anyone seen this before and am I just overeacting??

Cheers

Kate

Hi,
My ackies sometimes twitch their tails when i touch them.
Or sometimes when they see food.
I hope you find out what is the matter. Wink

Well hes just had some crix and some waxies so he seems fine. I think I'm just being paranoid. I spend hours with him everyday so I know all his normal behavioural elements very well and so anything out of the ordinary freaks me out. When I touched him it wasn't at all like how he normally acts and the fact that he was doing it when I wasn't touching him.

Anyway, he seems fine, so I think I'm just being a paranoid mother!

Cheers for the reply!

He is....erm just over 2 years now, hes not like any other ackie I've come across, so calm being handled, he just comes and chills out with us infront of the TV, like having another cat Laughing . I also have a 2 year old female who I'm putting him with when I get my new viv built...

just keep ur eye on the twitching kate... i had a ausie water dragon male that started to get twitches i found out it can be from not having a balanced diet e.g lack of calcium in there diet, or absence of the correct lighting e.g uv

He has 8.0 UV in his viv and his food is dusted. I have given him some waxies dusted in pure calcium today just be sure he got some, crickets can be a pain for cleaning it off sometimes!

He has seemed fine the rest of the day, hes been out exploring with me as usual. I will however keep an eye on him, sometime I'm glad that I know him so well to be able to notice any abnormal behaviour, but sometimes it makes me into a nervous wreck!

Thanks for the replies!
