I'm very happy to have spenceris the hard part was that one of them got a constipation. I took it to the Vet just to check the bump on it's back. I had to know if there was any infection in the bite that he/she got earlier from a cage mate. However the bump was no worries.
Much worser with the constipation. But now after 2 weeks I hoping for the better. Some stuff has come out and the thing that struck me was, this is realy like cement! Hard as a rock!
The feces coming out now is much more ''normal''. My question now is: What do I feed him/her with first? I know insects would be stupid but a pinkie or slices of chickenfile what do you think?
Sorry about the long text.
/Mike

nice looking monitors and setup. could you explain why it would be stupid to offer him/her insects? and isn't it better to offer then hole prey items such as a pinkie instead of strips of chicken? Iam not saying your wrong in anyway and as iam far from a monitor expert.

Insects has ketin which is hard to melt. Many times you see parts of locusts crickets and roaches in their feces. When you feed them things like chicken file it just goes through smoother. This is not a base diet just because of the constipation. After that, back to hole prey again!
Even pinkies might be to much, I'm not sure but what I've seen so far its also easier to digest than insects.
Thanks for comments!

MAN they are SWEET!
Love the position of their eyes, they almost appear amphibian!
Good Luck with them!
Feed him small pinkies for the next few feeds, you can also take a syringe and shoot a little olive oil in the pinkie. This will help keep things moving...if you catch my drift!
It may even loosen up any more impaction's.

Thanks for the advice Mike!
I'll feed him/her a smal pinkie and hope for the best.
I'm using parafin oil instead, recomendation from the vet.
''This will help keep things moving'' last time I got it on my shoes! haha

Yes they are from Morelia Inc!
They are realy hyperactive, running around flying right out in the air trying to catch food when you walk by
The constipated one is not so active ofcourse but we'll see how it turns out..
