Believe it or not at last one of my female beardies has laid her first clutch of eggs. 28 of them in fact. Some are obviously better then others, and she stamped on a couple as she was laying them.

Still, I didn't expect my first clutch to come mid winter, lets hope its the first of many.

There now sitting nicely in an incubator at 28.5 celcius Smile

Well done, good luck with the hatching.

I have had quite a few bearded clutches laid over winter too.

Could anyone post any pictures of bad eggs please? Im not sure which ones are good and which are bad whilst sitting in the incubator.

Some were much smaller, and she stamped on some, had some initial temp probs etc, so I hope I didn't lose them all. Just a few seem to be turning a slightly brown/yellow colour, not sure if this is right.

Cheers all Smile

They should become white and increase in size over the weeks. Any duds will slowly go yellowto brown and rot away.

You can either take the dud eggs out or just leave them in, good eggs will hatch even if surrounded by bad eggs.

Probably best if you guess which are bad, make a note of it and leave the eggs, that way you will see if you were correct. This will give you the confidence with your next clutch.

for some reason it looks like a lot of them are going yellow/brown, even though I can clearly see that they are fertile.

What woudl cause this? I have the temp set right for sure.

lack of calcium is 1 reason. while the female is gravid i dust her food with calcium every day and her cluches always look good beardies need this extra calcium to shell the eggs you cannot over dose them on it so dont worry

Well I may have slightly over reacted, its been a week since they were layed and most seem to be well formed and ok.

I dust all crickets anyways, and I have been dusting salad lately too so I dont think its that! We'll see though, another week and ill know which eggs have survived!
