As long as they don't have health issues because of continueing the breeding like this, I say why not?
If they have no health issues, its no different from any other morph that doesn't suffer health issues in the world...
It is, as has been said, a natural mutation.. _________________ x.Jessie.x

Well, I can't comment on the Silkbacks yet, but I can say - hand on heart - that the Leatherbacks are no different from your average Beardie (in behaviour etc). They eat like pigs, bask, play, try to escape, poo, shed etc just like my normally scaled fellas.
As for the Silkback question - I don't think anyone is going to be able to answer it properly for me, so I'm currently deciding whether to find out for myself. If (and I mean IF) I decide to breed them, I'll probably make sure I'm in a position to keep all the silkbacks that are hatched for life. That way I can be sure that they are being kept properly and not used as a money making thing (I bet they'll make it over here without my help anyway). It will also answer my questions about how they behave compared to a 'normal' beardie.
I am totally prepared for the fallout of such a project, and as I said, am not totally decided yet. _________________ European Protected Species Licensing - Do you know enough?

I'm fully aware that I will not be able to house an entire clutch of Beardies until adulthood - but then I bet very few people that have bred Beardies would be able to... I'm confident that I can find homes for all saleable/rehomable Beardies, and will be able to keep any unfortunates that remain.
That's the best any breeder without a mansion and lots of money can assure - and hey, if no one bred them for that reason alone then none of us would be keeping them! _________________ European Protected Species Licensing - Do you know enough?

well yes, beardies do tend to lay a lot more eggs than royals do. what i meant was anyone taking on the responsibility of breeding should be prepared to keep the hatchlings until they CAN be homed. this is one reason i stopped breeding anything! i couldnt sell them or give them away as i grew too fond of them.
it took a garden full of guinea pigs and a field full of horses to teach me that. _________________

I know what you mean!
I used to breed gerbils... Dad said he thought I should stop once I had 60-odd in my bedroom! _________________ European Protected Species Licensing - Do you know enough?

thats exactly what i would be like!!!! and i give them names!! they say thats the wrong thing to do. but anyway i stopped the guinea pigs and horses when i realised i was just too soft to send them off to new homes. i would have people phoning me to arrange to come and see them and i would say they were sold!!!
the dog was neutered as soon as i could just in case i felt the urge for cute wee american bulldogs running around the place. _________________
