Got brought this little baby day gecko today, and not sure what it is - have a inkling, but would be interested to hear what you guys think.

He came out from someone's luggage who was in Mauritius, and is about an inch long ATM. He has a little tail missing. Stripes down his flanks, and a white belly. The tail is reddy orange underneath.

Pictures:

He's great fun, don't have any equipment for him ATM, I think just UV and no heat, because they give off some heat anyway, and his enclosure's tiny.
And day gecko keeping tips welcome!

Very Happy

That looks just like it Jas, fingers crossed - as adults look amazing. Sounds like I've been lucky!

I'm willing to stud him out when old enough Cool

I'm thinking compact UV in a clamp lam on a faunarium for now, to get him the 28 degree heat and UV, without too much hassle.

There all nice from Mauritius if its not Cepediana so your lucky either way
I'd get some real plants to spray for him too and some bamboo tubes.
Good luck with him and keep the photo's coming as his pattern comes out. Very Happy

Sounds good, he'll love it Razz

Bamboo - good idea. I've been spraying him - he doesn't have a water bowl yet. Need to order some Size 1 browns for him too, or maybe pinheads? (Got some pinhead blacks).

I think he is Cepediana - closest IOve found so far. I considered guimbeaui, but the line of the flanks makes me think not.

Plus this guy has blue on his nose, like a Cep. Smile Hoping for a boy!

Cheers Karen, I've decided to call him Zebedy, as it sounds sort of like Cepedi...ana Laughing

He's pooped twice so far, and his stools look good (as good as stools can be!), and has a nice fat tummy after eating two crickets.

Don't have UV yet, but do you think a compact UV in a clamp lamp would provide enough heat for him? As I don't want two bulbs, as there will be now cool spot for him.... Cheers.

My set-up ATM IS just a halogen desk lamp - non-statted Confused Pictures later...
Apparently they're very delicate...great! Rolling Eyes

WARNING - LOTS OF PICTURES
Here's some of him now he's settled, and his enclosure.

Feeding:

Excuse the awful pictures, the plastic's dirtied with water marks and he's shy Laughing
