you cant keep mountain chickens and if you could you would need an entire building for them and a lot of money to set it up but as they are so endangered no chance! we have two at my zoo but i am aware of only one other place that has them! apologies for punctuation am typing on my psp from the beach!

Laughing Jersey has them and where the first to breed them in captivity.

A arger cane toad would be better and I believe Sean (I think that's his user name) on here had some really large specimens available.

Yes they have them at the zoo, there massive and do need a very large enclosure to breed successfully. Ive been in the breeding room a few times and it is very strict as they can be disturbed and stressed very easily.

Great fellas tho. Very Happy

they are stunning! to breed they require huge rainfall which is hard to provide indoors without flooding. yes also very prone to stress not easy to take pictures of with a flash!

Cool pic, cheers! I thought some people had chickens on this site!
I thought Id seen pics of one on a keyboard! It did look more like a toad than a frog tho!
Would love any tips on keeping African bull frogs, Iv heard they need more space than the American bull, as they seem to move around a lot more. I was thinking of keeping Horned frog, but they just seem to sit and wait to be fed! Lovely looking frogs, but can be vicious, and lets be honest, theyr quite boring realy!!
Anyone disagree?! Please post, and change my mind! Wink

You might be refering to Karens toad it's name is chicken or there are people on here with smokey jungle frogs which belong to the same family as mountain chickens so you could have seen one of these too.

About your statement regarding African and American bullfrogs, its the other way round. Africans tend to sit and ambush and don't really move that much similar to pacmans, Americans are typical rana's and require large enclosures so to prevent jumping into things and bashing their snout.

Here's one of my bufo's that MJ was refering to.
