As you can all see we are having a few technical problems with the forum (started out by a power surge on the hosting server, then our hard drive burning out).

Anyway we will hopefully be back up to speed asap but I'd like to take this opportunity to upgrade the whole site and make any changes / additions where needed so I'm after your HONEST feedback, good and bad.

What can we do to improve the site? attract more members? and increase the debates/discussions that are posted?

One of the biggest points of difference between the CaptiveBred Forums and almost every other is the way our forum is divided up i.e. specific forums for certain reptiles like Ball Pythons, Crested Geckos, Pythons & Boas etc

Personnally I like this BUT I do find myself not clicking on other sections as much, where as other Forums have just Snakes or Lizards which does mean you basically are forced to view almost every post but that does mean more people reply and post etc.

So...should we merge categories or leave the same as now?

What else would you like?

thanks for your time.

I certainly feel a couple of sections on here could be merged but be nice to hear from members what they think would work.

I joined a few rep forums but always use this one most. I do find it easy to browse and as I'm such a newbie and only interested in cresties the seperate sections are good for me.

Something this site has over the others is a great sense of community with friendly peeps, well most of the time!

I much prefere the seperate forums.
I dont like the idea of looking for geckos but
having to look at all the beadies etc. Neutral

I like the sections, but then again, I think it's nice if people view posts about reptiles they don't know about/ aren't interested in at first glance - it's a good way to learn, and often there's relevant info for all species. Smile

I like the forum as it is TBH Wink

I like the sections divided as they are. I tend to use the 'view posts since your last visit' button, so I can see what's been posted in all the sections.

I like the 'invited guests' idea.

Scott,

I think that all posts should contain at least a sentence, I seem to find myself clicking again and again just to see a smiley or 'lol'...It would make the actual debate/discussion easier to follow
Just my thoughts though Cool
