Hi
I am in process of designing a tank for a pair of young cresties.
Basically it is 36x15x18 high glass tank with sliding doors and part mesh wooden lid. I have divided it into two equal sections.
Inside the tank going through the divide is a 30inch light(enclosed by mesh tubular guard) so cresties cannot touch the tube its self.
I am going to put a layer of peat and branches etc and a live plant in each section.
Now for my Qs.
Average room temp is between 56f and 62f at the moment so I need extra heat. The tube will obviously give some warmth but not enough to get the temps anywhere near to mid 70s. So I am considering a couple of 15watt night glow bulbs, one in each side(again enclosed in mesh frame)
OR putting a heat strip just below the light taped to the outside of the tank with branches etc up to the heatstrip so they can get close.
Basically any thought ideas please.
regards

all i can say is good idea but the wood might rot so cover it in a water proof varnish or something and them leave so the smell of the varnish goes away
