Hi, me again with another question!!!
When i feed spike, sometimes he jumps down off the branch amoungst the crix and starts waving at them. The waving is a sign of submission so why is he doing it to his dinner!
Is this normal?

From what Ive seen and read it appears that they do it "move" the live food.

What nomally happens is they get close to the prey, wave and then when they move strike.

Ah. Thanks nelson i didnt think of that. That does happen but sometimes he misses, and i think why didnt he strike when it was still and be sure of getting it!
He also just looks at the cricket if it walks under his nose, but will then dive off the stone and strike at one on the branch. It seems as if he prefers a challenge when hunting for dinner! lol

My Rankins behave the same with crickets as well....

I put live ones in, and if they dont move they wont strike at them...but you can watch them eyeing them up so to speak. As soon as they move though, then its a totally different story.

My new male was perched up high on the branch at the back of my Viv, I put some crickets down in the front by the female and as soon as one of the crickets moved he was off like a shot...he got there quicker than the female who the cricket was in front of! lol

My old Rankins used to to take veg from my hand, havent got the new ones doing it yet...but Im sure they will come good in the end Smile

my beardie started eating his greens from my hand for the first time yesturday! It was cool, but should he get used to it cos then maybe in the future he wont eat it from the dish and only my hand?

Ive also been handling spike daily for him to get used to me. I usually handle him in the viv cos hes a bit jumpy sometimes, but yesturday i brought him out of the viv on my hand and placed him on the floor. I thought id have to watch him cos hes so fast but, it was as if he was frozen he didnt move at all!!! The posture he had when he was on my hand didnt change at all for about 5 mins, i then put him back in cos i thought it might be stressing him. Is this behaviour normal for the 1st visit out of the viv. (I made sure the room was warm before bringing him out)
