why would baby rats get eatten?

They have food fresh water and only 2-3 femles to each tub

Any idears

I've always wondered this with my mice, but the way i go about it is. Is that I nut off the cage that are 'eaters' and start the tub again. Just to be on the safe side. Dont want my surviving offspring to think its a good thing to be taught. lol.

Have you got other cages with rats that are breeding for you and not eating the young?

i have tried not cleaning them so not to leave my smell but no good (other than smelly rats) Laughing

My advise would be to bump off all the adults in the cage which the offspring are being eaten in and replace them with another group of rats which you produce from one of your good breeding cages.

Just my opinion.
