Normally MJ that is the case but in adspersus the males are alot bigger than the females.
Here is a pic of one of my old males.
I also believe that the South African variety get larger than most we see in the trade from else where in Africa. I know mine were legally obtained from South African stock, they had very deep ridges across the back. |

I had some of these guys great frogs, the males as stated do get bigger than the fem-bots, They also display a vivid yellow throat that help distinguish them apart, the males are responsible fathers and the duty of protecting the tadpoles lay on his shoulders, \they produce thousands of the little monster and the bigger guys start eating the smaller ones pretty quickly, the first to metamorphosis often hang around the skirts of the drying up pools to catch a quick meal as there siblings emerge.
To build up fat reserves then its under ground till the next down pour often enough>
We used to have some monster sized ones at the snake park I worked at in South Africa, about the size of foot balls, they used to take chicks among other things with little effort, they must have been a good 20 years old by the time I started working there.
Great frogs, wouldn't mind getting some more the frogletts are adorable,

Yes Paul, the males can be double the size of the females. 
EDIT; if I wouold have read the thread to the end I would have seen the question was answered many times.
