I've seen that one as well, looks pretty cool. I'm going with a pre-stripped 6' bottle fridge _________________ www.draco2.co.uk

Looks good, heat tape can be really useful for giving an equal amount of heat throughout the incubator,
This would be great for small to medium size eggs, would be interesting to see if he gets equal temperatures throught his design.
I have found with larger incubators that I always have to fit fans to get an even temp throughout.
For larger pythons incubators I always make something custom to fit the big boxes in (50 retic/burm eggs x 30+ clutches take allot of room!!)
I know a few people in the Uk use a wine cooler design for their colubrid eggs to keep them under 28 on the hot days you do get over there...LOL..... _________________ Life in Bali is sweet,

How do you incubate Scott? I love Marks setup on the website, now that's what you call an incubator, and it looks simple as well.
jon_g I wish we had a few more days at that sort of temperature!!
Sounds like you have a LOT of incubating to do, what do you use and find the best, given that you have ambient temps about 300 times what we are getting here at the moment _________________ www.draco2.co.uk

I'm still not settled on a final design for a reliable Incubator yet,
In the UK I was a big fan of styrofoam boxes and heat mats, which always gave me great results and were easily controllable.
A big challenge here is the temperature, ambient temp in the day can often be 30 c, and can drop to 16 at night, we also have the added fun factor of many power cuts due to kite flying or bad weather.....
We buy voltage regulators here as the supply is inconsistent.
A reverse thermostst + extract fan is essential to keep temps below 32.2 in the python incubator,
I have tried heatmats and heatcable, habistat and microclimate thermostats.
All have there good and bad points.
I also have a large colubrid incubator for corns, kings, house snakes etc which needs to be kept at 28 which is a challenge.
When eggs start to develop more they start to create their own heat from all the baby snakes inside their eggs, you have to factor this into the design as well.
Python eggs benefit from being a littloe cooler in the last week or so of incubation(this is what mum would provide)
Incubation is an interesting subject with tons of variables, but not a whole lot of information available yet.
Would be interesting to hear how scott incubates his. _________________ Life in Bali is sweet,

Interesting issues you have there And I agree it would be nice to know how Scott incubates.
So anyway, digressing a little, what life like in Bali? We've been looking into moving to St Lucia in the Caribbean, but I'm not going unless I can take my reptiles I just need the constant heat, adn I'm always really healthy when I'm over there, although it could be coincidence as I happen to be on holiday and sloathing about _________________ www.draco2.co.uk

Blimey...Living in a new culture is a huge subject.
Its really great living on bali (much nicer than java...which has the nickname "the armpit of indonesia" as it is soooo dirty)
There are some difficulties and big culture differences.
Here 99.99% of people are wholeheartedly dedicated to a religion, something which was completely alien to me as this is the vast majority of people in the UK (from my own experiances) are non-religious.
There is widespread corruption within government which can be good or bad depending on whats happening at the time.
People here are very unaccepting of different cultures/beliefs, which again is alien to me, I have lived in a multicultural society since a young age and have always accepted peoples differences, here you are not accepted unless you conform to certain preconcieved standards.
There are loads of things to consider when moving to a foreign land, places like the UK and the USA have already resolved common issues of religion race etc and have laws in place which people respect and generally adhere to, Often in indonesia there may be laws...but few people adhere to them as they know at the end of the day they can pay someone and they will go away...again this can be useful also !!
Bali is an amazing island, and I have met some fantastic people here, and learnt a whole lot about different cultures and beliefs(even turning budhist in the proceed...)
Its certainly a place where i would like to live out the rest of my days. _________________ Life in Bali is sweet,

some of the pics of my own incubator . i have fitted a glass observation window in the door so i can check the eggs without having to open the incubator . its only a small fridge but i need it only for small python eggs like my royals and hopefully my angolans in the future . i have fitted 2 heatmats from the bottom of the incubator , up the back to the roof . it seems to keep the temp just right so i am happy with it and if their is enough space , might just put some coloubrid eggs in to test drive it .

Jon_g, I can well imagine that it takes some getting used to, and to be honest I think you have to fit in with the local people, after all they do live there, and we just go over there to live. Budhist is the one religion I think I would convert to, from what I understand it's a very peaceful religion. The island we've been looking at is Catholic, which could be interesting given that we aren't exacty religious in this house.
Looks good slangman, did it take you long to put together? _________________ www.draco2.co.uk
