Hi, long tailed grass lizard, very gregarious. I often used to find them in a little bunch curled around each other, also get on really well with other small lizards, quite easy to breed, hatchlings tiny. Eggs sort of long instead of round. They also love to climb. lovely little lizard.

[goes to clean plant pot]

we have one viv with 1:2 and another with 1:1
those pics were all of one male.

Arthur..
what would you recomend for humidity levels?
have been keeping to around 60% give or take with a heavy spray in the monring and a light one in the evening before lights go off.
as always, bask area kept dry at all times and a small area kept particularly damp.

Hi Dean, sounds fine to me. Most that you buy are wild caught and they don't have a long life, 2 / 3 years, so sometimes they seem to die for no reason and I think that sometimes they are old when they are captured.
Also I found that because they are WC they suffer from parasites which because of their size is very difficult to treat. Mine did produce lots of eggs and I would keep the young away from the adults so they don't pass them on, do parasites get passed on via the egg, anyone know?

I think parasites are passed in the egg...
not sure though... defo interested to hear if anyoen knows.

what sort of temps did you incubate the eggs at? ill prolly have trouble spotting them to be honest, are they simialr in breeding to anoles? plant pot of soil...lazily buried... can incubate ok in viv if they are missed...?

Hi, yeh, pretty much like anoles. hatching temp about the same, don't know if gender is temp related. They will sometimes hatch in the viv, of course will get eaten if left. I fed them fruit flies and micro blacks.

hi, i've been keeping long tailed lizards for nearly 2 years now and until 6 months or so ago had quite a few just die for no apparent reason. i now have four left of my original 7 and they seem to be all doing fine......tho having said that as i have had them a while now i often expect to find dead ones now Sad

I dont think the eggs will be effected from parasites as most parasites live in the intestine, so as long as they are kept seperate from the adults they should be parasite free.
Good luck with them though. Very Happy
