I have read that it is good to feed the crickets and locusts before feeding my beardy. I have put dry dog biscuits and some carrot peelings in the crickets box. Is this ok?

If my beardy doesnt eat all the crickets i put in the viv should i take them out or will it be ok to leave them in the viv? I have put some carrot pieces in the viv for the crickets.

How long will the crickets live for? Do they change into a beetle or something?

Thanks

Yes, it is a good idea to offer the crickets both dry food (I use non-fish varieties of GoCat) and fresh food like slices of carrot or a small amount of any other fruit or veg.

The crickets will stay as crickets, and if they are already adults, will prob not live for more than a week or two. If you put a dish of fresh greens in with your beardies every other day, any escaped crickets can eat this, but it is best to remove uneaten crickets.

Hope this helps,
Mark.

There are lots of things you can put in to gut load them. Alhough Ive never used dog biscuits myself i have heard of others using them.

for my own I feed a "bug-grub" type food as its designed for them, and on top of that various salad items.

I never use crickets anymore (the escapee aspect) but they do live a good few weeks. And they stay as crickets throughout their lives.

Hi,

I have a plastic box with ventilation holes for my crickets. The box is approx. 30x20x20cm and I keep it on my vivarium, as crickets need a certain temperature as well.

I feed them with all sorts of vegetables, food flakes (for Fish) and shredded lineseed. Furthermore I give them a slice of cucumber every day because they need a lot of liquid, otherwise they will die soon.

When I keep them like that, they live for weeks (until my beardie gets them) Wink
