Hoping to make them my first lizards, based on the fact that they eat more vegetation than most lizards (my flatmate isnt too keen on me having loads of insects around the house), they look and seem very interesting and are a bit different. Does anybody keep this species? What sort of diets do people keep them on? I've heard quite a lot of contrasting views on them...some people think they should be exclusively veggie, others feed them some insects as well. I've got some basic info on them, a few care sheets and so on, but if anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it...especially how do people find them to handle, as I'd quite like a friendly species of lizard that would be happy being handled two or three times a week, not one that I'm going to stress out lots by doing so. _________________ 1 male caramel corn snake, Loki

hey mate,
i think the live food acceptability may vary with what species of uromastyx you are interested in. aside from that I think as young they will take and may even benefit from a very small amount of insects, whereas once adult they not only are less likely to accept live food but also it is of no benefit to there health and may infact be harmfull.
The best thing to do..is seek advice for young from the breeder, and for adults, treat as herbivores unless you have reason to believe otherwise. _________________ Beardies

i have 2 different types of Uro's both are scared at the moment because of the trip from Germany, when you do pick them up however they are very calms and adventurous. If you stick to a routine of handling them they are very mellow. _________________ Curently Keeping:

Thanks for the info. What do you feed them (particularly the occelatus as I'm thinking of buying one of these). _________________ 1 male caramel corn snake, Loki
