I have had my Berber Skink now for almost 2 years. I was sat there today and noticed it has gone black while shedding and this is the first time in 2 years it has gone black normally when it is shedding it will be mid to dark brown colour. Nothing has changed ie, Diet, Temps, surroundings. Any suggestions? _________________ 1.1.0 Major Plated Lizard

could the tail have been injured? does it feel ok?
I dont know of anything regarding conditioning/enviroment/season/age that could cause it in particular.. _________________ Beardies

does it live alone??? as deanthorpe said 'could the tail have been injured? ' maybe bitten or fallen on, prob the biggest cause of colour change in berbers.
Keep us posted how the little fella is. . . _________________ Curently Keeping:

It does live by it's self I have checked it over and there doesn't seem to be any damage to it's tail, although the tip of it's tail is lighter and more of the creamy colour. I made a phone call to a skink breeder and he asked for the specs of the viv and what I had in it and said it could be a bit stressed as it sounds to be a bit cramped. So took a few things out and gonna check on it a bit later. _________________ 1.1.0 Major Plated Lizard

Update on the Berber, It has gone back to it's natural colour now so must of been a bit stressed. Never thought it would of gone black because of that. _________________ 1.1.0 Major Plated Lizard

ah glad its back to normal.
may or may not have been stress, its defo a possibility and if re-aranging the viv fixed it then...
But also wouldnt say its conclusive, may have been totaly random. _________________ Beardies
