thanks to a few forum mates... i got wind of two leaf tails in a shop in henlow...

so.. off trundled I

(smashed the car on the way £1700 worth but carried on, bit shaky but determined none the less.. car still drivable.. albeit not strictly roadworthy.. yes, in garage now.. Sad )

anyway

so, they have had them a good few months now, had them listed, i think, as sikorae, though there are two sub species in that group.. S.sikorae and S.sameiti...

he did say on the phone he had doubts about that though..

looking at them, i am nearly sure the male is fimbricatus, and the female i am wavering between fimbricatus and henkeli... sometimes her eyes look one, sometimes the other..

(thats one of the ways to tell them apart - eye markings.. but is kinda a subjective thing, 'specially when you don't have a definite either of them, and the pic in the book is in black and white!!!)

so.. need some ID! am chasing this up in a few places, but if any of you ever see a uroplatus based forum group.. here, EU, USA.. the moon.... please let me know!

links to good eye shots of fimbricatus and henkeli also if anyone happens to see any about!

so... here is the more iffy of the two as far as me and telling the ID goes lol..

lots of boring shots i am afraid!

tbc..

blimey they are hard to id! just read up in the uroplatus book and it says the eyes are the only sure way of telling them apart but it DOESN'T give a good photo of both to compare Rolling Eyes

I would guess at fimbriatus

yeah, hard to tell isn't it scott... even sat here with them both on my hand and the book in front of me, its hard.. the lines VS squiggles aspect is a close call..

darren (biggs) said maybe guentheri, but if you look at the end of the tail, they have different tail endings...

still think fimb or henk... erring to fimb at the moment..
